Motorcycle Santa began in 2015, after a last minute Amazon order allowed an impromptu idea to come to life.
Christmas Ever that year, I took off on my 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle dressed as Santa Claus, with my friend on the back dressed in full elf attire. I spent a few hundred dollars on various gift items, riding around the community handing them out to unsuspecting families at red lights and in parking lots. The festive gesture created countless smiles, and ultimately drew support from the community rolling into the following year. Through the hard work and willing support of my friends, we added not only a life sized custom fabricated sleigh to pull donations but also a rolling parade full of holiday cheer.
Since then, we have grown our efforts into a community driven, registered 501(c)(3) non-profit that continues to support those in need during the holidays. We hold various annual toy drive events, where we raise thousands of donations that quickly fill Motorcycle Santa’s sleigh. We bring toys to the local children’s hospital, which are used for families to give to their loved ones who are confined in the hospital during the holidays.
We are also a large supporter of the Ronald McDonald House of DE, which houses and assists families traveling to the hospital for their child’s treatment. We pay a visit every year, where we donate toys directly to the children, as well as household/toiletry items that help with their day to day operations. In addition, we make a monetary donation to sponsor two rooms at the house for the entire year. This helps cover the costs of the room for out of state families who cannot afford it, essentially paying the rent for the year. Since 2017, Motorcycle Santa has donated over $25,000 to the Ronald McDonald House of DE.
We also reach out to sponsor and support individual families in need, as well as donate to various schools and other local charities, including the Christina Early Education Center and Ascending Queens of Delaware. Click here to read about our efforts abroad!
